Sky and Clouds

OK, so today I got fed up about talking about online MBAs - after all there are other things to talk about, such as what a beautiful day it is, the sun is shining and there's a gentle breeze, it's cool but not cold, just the day to go for a walk in the mountains and have a picnic by a stream. I could lay on the grass looking at the clouds scudding across the sky, and gently fall asleep, dreaming of long summer days and the sound of the sea.

There, I've got that out of my system, now I'll have to spend some time thinking about some serious stuff to write about MBAs for the next few days to atone.

MBA Success Story

OK, how's this for a success story? A friend of mine that I had lost touch with emailed me last night. I hadn't talked to him for around 5 years, and when I last knew him he was in a middle management, reasonably dead-end job. He was then talking about studying, but didn't know if he could afford to take the time and pay the fees he would need to pay.

Last night he emailed me to say that he had finished his online MBA during last year, and had just been offered a job with a salary of around $100,000. As he said, this is more than he had ever dreamed of earning before he studied for his MBA.

MBA Websites

If you look up MBA in any search engine, not only will you get references to MBA programs from a host of different colleges and universities, plus references to even more online MBAs from all over the world, you will also find some other kind of MBA websites.

There are many organisations that make it their business to offer different kinds of support to MBA students. Some of these are somewhat trivial, but there are also some really helpful websites that you can access.

A Modern MBA

During the 1980s and 1990s MBAs began to be specialized. MBAs were offered for specific areas such as non-profit making organizations, or for people who were working in finance, marketing or information systems. There was also a move to offer distance learning MBAs for executives who needed to update their qualifications but who would not be able to take the time out to study full time or in the classroom.

This move quickly developed into today's online MBA. The advent of cheap, readily available computing power plus the ability to be connected via the internet meant that most executives had the tools to study an MBA online by virtue of their jobs. Now an MBA is almost compulsory if you are going to progress in management, and so easy to study for that you would be foolish not to take advantage of the myriad opportunities to get qualified.
