Well, yes, OK, guilty: cruel, but glad you think they're fair.
However, to expand a little, I wouldn't limit such comments to MBA programs. I'm reasonably convinced that contacts are at least 50% of most educational programs. The first few years at school are more about socialising the ankle biters than teaching them anything useful. All too many college programs are marriage markets more than anything else. Why should an MBA program be different?
Of course, my year long party idea is silly: that would just select for those who are good at parties. A year long MBA program however would select for those good at MBAs: a pretty good signifier of who is going to be good and or useful in business.
So even if it is 50% to do with the contacts, it's still the program that's important.
