Follicly challenged MBAs

A rather amusing survey carried out by CBA consulting has suggested that men who gain an MBA are more likely to go bald than those that haven't. Apparently there could be a link between high testosterone and baldness, and similarly for men who are ambitious - a trait likely to influence the likelihood of gaining an MBA.

I'm not sure whether I needed to know this or not - is it going to affect the selection procedure; will it affect GMAT scores? Whatever, I don't think it will make much difference to my perception of good managers.

Hhhm. I think it might be worthwhile putting MBA students’ minds at rest about this.
Yes, there is a connection between male alopecia (or male pattern baldness) and high testosterone levels. However, those high levels don’t come from either being ambitious, doing an MBA or, indeed, anything else that people might think of doing.
Baldness is caused by a recessive gene (thus one that you must inherit from both parents, like blue eyes). It just so happens that said genes also predispose you to high testosterone levels: there isn’t even the direct connection between the testosterone and the baldness.
Correlation, not causation, in the jargon, something I’m sure will be of comfort to MBA students everywhere, both male and female (on the assumption that even if the female students don’t worry about going bald they would prefer not to be surrounded by men obssessing over it).
