Online MBA ForumMonday, May 22, 2006MBA Benefits
I was reminded today of some of the benefits that can come out of a good MBA program that are peripheral to the program, but can be really useful to students.
Some companies will give scholarships to students from specific MBA programs to help them with their studies. Other benefits include sponsorship during the program, which can be linked to guarenteed employment after the program. Other benefits involve competitions for MBA students. Prizes can include employment opportunities as well as money and fees being paid. Some venture capital companies run competitions for entrepreneurial MBA programs, which can result in venture capital being awarded to suitable ideas, projects and companies started by MBA students. # posted by Mary @ 11:35 PM

Wow! that sounds pretty good. I’m a little out of touch with the MBA scene so I’d really only ever heard of companies sponsoring their own employees. You know the sort of thing I mean. Graduate wih a first degree, go and work for a few years and then if the empoyer thinks you’re good enough they’ll help with the fees for an MBA. Others I’ve heard about are things like granting a sabbatical year (perhaps at half pay even) or lending the costs with no interest.

I had not heard about VC companies looking at MBA programs. That must be fascinating, going to school and knowing that if you create a valid idea you’ll walk out the door with funding. # posted by failingeconomist : 11:15 AM
