Adventure

Ok, so I had my mad moment yesterday, and it's on with the MBA and GMAT roadshow.

I had a telephone call from my MBA friend who is setting up his own business. He's just found some seed capital from a business angel, and is really enthused by the whole process. It's a particularly good situation as the business angel wants to get involved with the whole process, and add in his own expertise, which is quite different from my friends.

So he's on his way, and putting together his network. I'm waiting to see what his next steps are, this could be a really interesting adventure.

Now that does sound good. MBA studies and MBA networks made up of those who have done such studies: sure, great and a massive help. Add some seed corn money and you’d think that everything would be just fine.
As someone who has started a number of businesses there’s that one more vital ingredient. Experience. Most of us doing it on our own get it wrong the first time around precisely because we don’t have it. People like me take time to learn so often get it wrong second and third as well. But that’s exactly the added value of the business angel. Over and above the money (and of course the skills of that MBA network), they bring the vital experience. No substitute for it.
I wish your friend the very greatest amount of luck possible and look forward to further installments of the story.
