Online MBA ForumThursday, March 24, 2005Who Are The Masters of Business?
Not all aspiring businesspeople that look for career advancement opportunities should pursue a management MBA. Business people in fields that require someone with strategic and general management skills are the best candidates for a management MBA.
That is not to say that a management MBA isn't beneficial in any business pursuit, but where knowledge of a specific discipline is needed, such as information technology, an MBA with a specific focus is more useful. Another group that should rethink their MBA goals is someone looking just for an increased salary. An MBA does not automatically guarantee a salary increase. It can help, but nothing is concrete. With a management MBA you'll have the skills that make you a better leader, but it is up to the individual company executives to decide what value is placed on such skills. It is also unwise to think that a business degree will guarantee you a plum job. A management MBA only serves the holder when it is supported by substantial practical experience. The only thing that it is safe to assume is that a management MBA is always beneficial in a highly competitive job market. Monday, March 21, 2005Super Groups: Other MBA Organizations
In addition to the networking groups for minority MBA holders working in MBA careers, there are a number of groups that accept all MBA holders. The MBAA can be found at: http://www.mbaassociation.org/
Another group dedicated to promoting the ideals, ethics, and skills that prepare graduates of MBA Schools for MBA careers is the Association of MBAs. Billing itself the international authority on the development of business leaders, the Association of MBAs primary task is guarding the MBA quality standards and unique role MBAs play in developing business leaders.
