MBA Program Ranking: Is It Important?

When it comes to choosing business schools, few resources have as much impact as the MBA program ranking. Two of the most respected rankings used by prospective MBA candidates are compiled by magazines: BusinessWeek and US News & World Report. But what does the MBA program ranking really mean?

A MBA program ranking is based on a number of criteria including number of faculty, length of program, reputation based on opinion and judgment of recruiters, academics, and graduates. The real value of MBA program ranking though has yet to be decided. After all, the rankings of top MBA schools are just the subjective assessment of the quality of the school or the program offered.

That isn't to say that the MBA program rankings aren't valuable. An MBA Program Ranking can help you decide between programs depending on what your needs are.
