Who says I'm overeducated? This Week's Topic - the MBA

Education is intangible because it isn't uniform. Quality education varies by institution, program, classes, teachers, etc. Because of these variables, it is hard to quantify the extent to which we benefit from it. When considering our next educational step, the best we can do is to become as informed as possible about our different options. In this week's article, I'll discuss a degree that many of you covet - the MBA.

Racing to Earn Your MBA Degree

A Master's degree in Business Administration is commonly considered to be a ticket to a higher paying managerial position. As you can imagine, this belief has lead many ambitious twenty-somethings away from lower-level jobs and back to the classroom.

This stampede back to institutions of higher learning can cost a bundle, however, and many are starting to question whether the promise of higher wages in the future is compelling enough to pull them away from their current decent-paying full-time jobs.

Online MBAs - A Paradigm Shift

Luckily, many of you won't have to leave your jobs to become full-time MBA students. In the last few years, the MBA stampede has splintered into two different directions. Many people are still going back to school full-time for the MBAs, but a growing number have found quality degree programs online.

Enrolling in an online program enables students to keep their current jobs, and earn a degree on their own time. Many of these online MBA programs have been accredited by the same institutions that accredit the top traditional campus programs, and employers have found online MBA graduates to be top-notch employees. Some employers, in order to keep employees from leaving, will help offset the cost of an online MBA.

Distance Learning MBA - The Best of Both Worlds

These days, an MBA is still important. But when you have an option to earn one without foregoing 2-3 years of a full-time income, you realize that enrolling in a traditional program might not make a whole lot of sense. Before you make any decisions, spend some time looking at what these distance learning MBA programs have to offer.
