Are MBAs too Male-centric? Not if You Do Them Online
A recent global study by the UK's Brunel University suggests conventional MBA programs are seen as competitive, arduous and overly fast-paced by some women. Research in both the US and the UK also suggests that women think an MBA program has more to offer a man in terms of increased salary and career advantages.
Benefits of MBA Programs
The research asserts that women still see the benefits of an MBA program, above and beyond proven salary increases. With specializations available in all key areas of business, many women believe that MBA programs can have a positive effect on every element of their job and career. This includes their confidence, their working methods, and how they communicate with superiors and peers.
Research on modern MBA programs suggests that the delivery needs to adapt to reflect differing learning needs; these could include gender, race, and personality. With the current costs of MBA programs running at around $45,000, this is obviously a serious issue that needs to be addressed.
Are Distance Learning MBA Programs and MBAs Online the Answer?
In the short term, however, distance learning MBAs and MBAs studied online offer an excellent solution for several reasons:
- MBA programs are delivered at students' chosen pace.
- Online discussion groups allow for a more relaxed form of discussion, with less room for aggressiveness and competition in your MBA.
- It may also be possible to reduce costs by choosing a distance learning MBA.
Look at any established or emerging online university, and their flagship will be their MBA. Whether male or female, competitive or reflective, with so much choice available for distance learning MBAs and MBAs online, why settle for anything less than the best for you? There is nothing macho about that.
